All travel agencies must be registered as and a member in good standing with one or more recognized trade organizations in order to sell and/or book international travel. The suppliers must know the agents [or the agency] they are dealing with. CLIA is one of several established organizations recognized by the major suppliers.
Cruise Lines International Association, [CLIA] is responsible for collecting schedules for the major cruises - providing online search and promotion tools for the industry and provides recognition and training for over 17,000 US Travel Agencies. The GBTC membership in CLIA gives us the recognition, [and the numbers] we need to book travel of all types.
CLIA is recognized by all of the suppliers we represent. CLIA is not just cruises ... the ‘qualification and training’ services they provide to the travel industry is invaluable.
